Thank you for supporting Highland Cafe. I have some sad news to report. As of Saturday, September 21, Highland Cafe is closed. We did our best, but the business never really got going, and we could not afford to stay open. We made it 7 months and 2 days. We had planned to stay open through Nightmare on Chicago Street but due to unforeseen circumstances we had to close earlier.
Before being in this business, for an admittedly short time, I didn't realize just how much difference one or two customers a day can make to a small restaurant. Local food places need your support. Go local and help keep our local places open. They provide jobs and revenue to our city as well as a great draw for every-one to make our community strong. If you have been wanting to try a place or meaning to, it can be the difference between staying open or closing down. So please, support our Elgin restaurants and businesses don't plan to stop by next week and keep putting it off, stop by now and support what we have.
We are excited that with our closing, a new tenant will be taking the space the cafe was in and will open in a few months with an interesting and exciting concept. Stay tuned for more food options in downtown Elgin.
We still have plenty of mugs and some other stuff available if you are interested. You can contact me at and I can talk with you about it.
Thank you for your support, please feel free to reach out anytime.
